Aquatint on paper. Initials and date in the lower left corner. Published on Chapon Catalog n. 104 of the 'Miserere' series. The artist from Paris Goerges Roualt was active in the 20s-30s and made the majority of his works during this period, for example the 58 figures for Miserere. The figures are disposed in a precise succession wanted by the artist himself and describe the history of everyone. They encourage the people to become aware that their own pains and miseries must be considered in a wider perspective: the perspective of mercy that we should have towards who suffer and the compassion that God has with human beings. The painting is presented in frame. 1922.
